Gratitude to the European Youth Foundation for Supporting "Green and Queer Future"

We would like to express our deepest appreciation to the European Youth Foundation (EYF) of the Council of Europe for its invaluable support in making the "Green and Queer Future" project a reality.

Thanks to EYF’s funding and encouragement, we have been able to empower LGBTQ+ youth in Sheki, Azerbaijan, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to address climate change and advocate for their communities. Their support has enabled us to create a safe, inclusive space where young people can connect, learn, and take action on the intersection of climate justice and LGBTQ+ rights.

This project would not have been possible without the dedication of EYF to youth-led initiatives and its unwavering commitment to human rights, diversity, and sustainability. The impact of this project extends far beyond our workshops—it has inspired young leaders to continue their advocacy work, build stronger networks, and bring about positive change in their local communities.

From all of us at Youth of Rainbow, and on behalf of every participant who has been part of this journey, we thank the European Youth Foundation for believing in our vision. Together, we are building a future that is not only greener but also more inclusive and just.

With gratitude,
The Green and Queer Future Team

Community Impact: LGBTQ+ Youth Lead Local Climate Awareness Campaigns

As part of the Green and Queer Future initiative, young LGBTQ+ participants are now taking the lead in their communities by organizing climate awareness campaigns!

These campaigns, developed during the Climate Storytelling Workshop, focus on educating local communities about the effects of climate change and advocating for inclusive environmental policies. Topics range from sustainable living practices to emergency preparedness in disaster-prone areas.

In a recent event, one group of participants held a discussion forum in their neighborhood, engaging over 50 residents in a conversation about climate adaptation and the specific challenges LGBTQ+ individuals face. Another team launched an online campaign, reaching hundreds through social media storytelling and advocacy.

The passion and dedication of these young activists prove that when empowered with knowledge and resources, marginalized voices can drive meaningful change. We are proud of our participants and excited to see how their initiatives continue to grow!

Project Kickoff: First Workshop Unites LGBTQ+ Youth in Climate Action

The Green and Queer Future project is officially underway! We successfully hosted our first Climate Storytelling Workshop, bringing together 25 LGBTQ+ young leaders from Sheki’s most vulnerable communities.

During the workshop, participants engaged in interactive sessions on climate change, disaster preparedness, and advocacy. They shared personal experiences, developed storytelling techniques, and worked together to design awareness campaigns aimed at mobilizing their communities for climate resilience.

One participant shared: "This workshop gave me not only knowledge but also confidence. I now see how my voice can contribute to both LGBTQ+ visibility and climate activism."

This is just the beginning! Participants will continue working on community-driven awareness projects, and their stories will soon be featured on our digital platforms. Stay connected for updates on their progress and impact!

Project Announcement: "Green and Queer Future" Launched to Empower LGBTQ+ Youth in Climate Action

We are excited to announce the launch of our groundbreaking project, "Green and Queer Future – Resilience Preparedness by and for LGBTQ+ Young People." This initiative aims to address the unique challenges LGBTQ+ youth face in the climate crisis, providing them with the tools, knowledge, and platforms needed to advocate for inclusive climate action.

The project will focus on raising awareness of the disproportionate impact of climate change on marginalized communities while equipping LGBTQ+ youth in Sheki with climate adaptation and resilience skills. Through workshops, community engagement, and a peer-driven online platform, we will empower young people to become active voices in environmental advocacy.

With COP29 approaching, hosted in Azerbaijan, we see this as a crucial moment to highlight the intersectionality of climate change and LGBTQ+ rights. We invite LGBTQ+ youth, activists, and allies to join us in creating a greener, more inclusive future!

Stay tuned for updates, and follow us as we embark on this transformative journey.
